A musician’s equipment is very important. The choices that he makes have a direct impact on his sound and delivery. Not having the sound you hear in your head or having inconsistencies in equipment reliability, can adversely affect the musician’s thought process and their overall level of performance.
I must say this. I am not a technical person nor do I run out and purchase every new piece of equipment that is invented. As a jazz guitarist, I have a certain sound that I am comfortable with in 95% of my playing situations. The other 5% requires that I make slight adjustments for a certain “genre” or “style”. Therefore, I like to keep it real simple!

So, let’s start with the instrument. I play D'Angelico guitars. They look and PLAY great! The company is a joy to work with! .My instruments MUST travel safely and with STYLE! That's why I only use REUNION BLUES cases. They are the best! I use Reunion Blues guitar straps and laptop and attache cases as well! The guys and gals at that company feel like family to me.

Now, as far as amplification. Choosing the right amp can be a nightmare for a guitarist. The factors that go into the decision process are innumerable! This is why I play Henriksen Jazz Amps exclusively. In all my years of playing, I felt like I found the “Holy Grail” when I discovered Henriksen. My sound has never been better or more consistent. Henriksen cares about their product and their customers. I am beyond satisfied.

Great speakers complement great amps. I play Port City Speaker Cabinets. The sonic design, exterior craftsmanship and feel of the cabinets are unparalleled. There are some great guys at Port City who very knowledgeable about speakers and the specific needs of their artists. In other words, they made sure that I had the right combination for the sound I told them I wanted. I love the guys at Port City!

Now of course you need a few other things. I use LaBella Strings,because first of all the strings are the best,and the company is run by some really genuinely NICE people! I also use Essential Sound Products for my power cords (THEY ARE UNREAL!) and George L's for my instrument cables. All of these separate components come together as one to create my sound. There you have it!
